apporter aux personnes handicapées mentales et à leurs parents l'appui moral et matériel dont elles ont besoin ; développer un esprit d'entraide et de solidarité, particulièrement en accueillant et accompagnant les nouveaux parents ; promouvoir l'action de ses membres et notamment l'élaboration de réponses apportées aux besoins des personnes handicapées et de leurs parents ; promouvoir l'image des personnes handicapées et favoriser leur inclusion dans la société ; mettre en oeuvre tous les moyens nécessaires au meilleur développement moral, physique ou intellectuel des personnes handicapées ; établir sur le plan local des partenariats avec les autres organismes, associations et établissements d'enseignement ; défendre les intérêts moraux, matériels et financiers des personnes handicapées et de leurs parents auprès des élus, des pouvoirs publics, des commissions, des autorités de tarification, etc
